$25.00 DEPOSIT NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH REGISTRATION TO HOLD SPOT. BALANCE TO BE PAID WEDNESDAY PRIOR TO THE TOURNEY. ANY CANCELLATION FROM TEAM BY WEDNESDAY BEFORE WILL RESULT IN A FORFEITURE OF DEPOSIT.
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RULES
3 GAME GUARANTEE.. We always allow more teams to enter but will try to have cut-offs by Thursday before tourney to have schedules released. Schedules will be determined by the amount of teams entered.
Rosters and insurance must be forwarded to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to event.
The team with the winning record will receive individual trophies.
Teams are to have a minimum of 5 players to start.
Teams are to be ready by the game time on the schedule. Failure to be ready can result in forfeiture.
Time. Each half will be 20 minutes long and a running clock will be used, with the exception of clock stopping in last 2 minutes of the half.
The clock will not stop if a team is ahead by 15 points or more points.
Three one-minute time outs per game will be allowed.
First overtime will be 2 minutes. If there is a second overtime needed there will be a 5 man free throw shootout with the winning team making the most Free Throws. If this exists each player must shoot before repeating line-up.
SUBSTITUTIONS - Subs must report to desk and only come in when the referee calls in at jump balls, free throws, and other dead balls.
Defenses- Any Defense for boys is allowed. Girls: Man-to-man for 4,5th Grade. 6,7,8th Grade allow any defense. There will be no pressing allowed after a team has at least a 15 point lead. 9th Grade & JV: All defenses allowed.
RULES: MHSAA rules will apply to games, with the exceptions noted above. Tournament directors will make the final decision on all disputes. Balls: Boys 6th grade and below will use a girls basketball.
Some facilities have locker rooms but not always available. Please come dressed ready to play.
Concessions will be available at most locations, but there is no food allowed in the gymnasiums. Please respect teams and eat in proper areas.
Please everyone remember these tournaments are designed to give our young athletes an opportunity to compete and enjoy competitive play. Always respect and be responsible for your conduct. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their teams and spectators.
The referees and the Tournament Directors reserve the right to to remove anyone for any disorderly conduct without warning.
Please also respect the facilities and their staff.
Admission will be $7 per person, per day, with the exception of coaches and players. Two coaches and team players are permitted on the gym floor only. No fees for small children (under 7).
By accepting admission into this tournament, each of the coaches, team members, and spectators accept responsibility for all injuries and indemnify the SMARTS ORGANIZATION and the School District/Facility, and its tournament workers from all claims. All decisions by the tournament director are final. No refunds
